    John Taylor Hospice has a diverse and multi-professional medical team.

    Our consultant in palliative medicine is our responsible officer and we have completed the registration process in the West Midlands Region through the previous strategic health authority for medical revalidation.  Founded in 1910 as a mutual, reciprocal partnerships are still very much at the heart of what we do and we recruit volunteers and partners on zero hours contracts to ensure that we can attract the essential expertise to maintain clinical quality.

     

    We are looking for experienced medical managers who have been approved for medical appraisal who would be interested in working with our consultant in palliative medicine to appraise our small medical team and colleagues who are experienced in medical education to develop our teaching portfolio.  We are looking for volunteers on a reciprocal basis who can fulfil these roles.

  • Title: Bank Community Palliative Care Nurse Specialist

    Salary: Band 6

    To work as part of a the multi-disciplinary team providing specialist palliative care to patients and their carers within Birmingham East and North PCT and Heart of Birmingham PCT. The clinical nurse specialist plays a key role in raising the clinical standards of care and quality of life for patients facing cancer and other life-limiting illness. The post holder will be responsible for providing symptom control advice and psychological support to meet complex needs. The post holder will support and educate other members of the wider multi-disciplinary team on palliative care related issues. The post holder will liaise with primary care teams, acute team; voluntary and statutory agencies concerned with the management of patients with palliative care needs. The post holder will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy and have in-depth knowledge of palliative care initiatives and how they interface with other local priorities.

  • Title: Volunteer Graphic Designer

    Salary: Voluntary position

    If you’re a creative person with graphic design skills we’d love to work with you!

    Working with the Community Investment Crew, this role will help develop exciting marketing tools for print and digital use which will promote investment in John Taylor Hospice and help grow the brand.

    We are really flexible about how you may want to give your time. This includes working from home at a time to suit you or giving some time during the week to come and join the crew. We’ll even get you tea and coffee!

    Ideally you can provide your own equipment and software and are familiar with the adobe creative suite or similar.

  • Title: Volunteer Drivers Required

    Salary: Voluntary

    Do you have any spare time?

     

    Are you able to volunteer to transport patients to and from our Day Hospice on Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays?

     

    Ideally we need drivers who are able to drive our own

    Kangoo or minibus.

    Clean driving licence.  No convictions

    There will be an interview process

  • Title: Voluntary Front of House Assistants

    Salary: Voluntary

    Do you have any spare time?

    We require Front of House Assistants to support our existing team of assistants.

    We are looking for someone with a pleasant personality, ever smiling face and ability to handle phone calls/take messages efficiently and promptly.

    You will play a major part in the Front of House team and will be interacting with various people on a daily basis e.g. hospice staff, patients families, visitors etc.

    A requirement for this role will be to adhere to front of house standards and procedure, full training will be given.

    This is an exciting and enjoyable role, within a small friendly team.

  • Title: Kitchen Assistant

    Salary: Voluntary

    We require a kitchen assistant to work alongside our Chefs, to support in the preparation of patient, family and staff meals.

    A requirement of this role will be to adhere to stringent kitchen standards and will involve cleaning work areas, washing up, preparing staff sandwiches, clearing patient trays and general kitchen tidiness.

    You will play a major part in the catering team and will be interacting daily with hospice staff, patients and families.  This is an exciting and enjoyable role, within a small friendly team.  Full training will be given.
