You can be part of an amazing artwork which will be on display in Birmingham later this year.

To celebrate our 110th anniversary we are creating Fleeting Moments – displays of birds which will be shared with the public. We had hoped to hold our exhibition at Library of Birmingham this year but visiting regulations around COVID-19 mean the library is currently unable to host exhibitions.

However people will still have the chance to see Fleeting Moments as we will create some lovely artworks in the windows of our charity shops – we will share full details nearer the time.

Across the city – and beyond – people have been spending this spring and summer making their own fabric birds which will all be brought together as a flock in this artwork.

We have received some amazing birds so far and there is still time for you to be involved. We would love to receive your birds. Please include your name, contact details and whether you are happy for us to post photos of your birds and your name on social media as we’d love to share your artwork with all our supporters.

Fleeting Moments birds

As a hospice we know how precious fleeting moments are – whether they are huge moments like a wedding or a tiny moment like a hand held by a bedside – we believe every moment matters. Each bird is a fleeting moment and by bringing them all together we are creating a shared experience of all of our special moments.

The project is being facilitated by local artists Jane Thakoordin and Margaret Murray who have created these instructions for you to follow so you can add your bird to our flock. Please can we receive your birds by 22 October to ensure they can be included in the displays.

To take part, watch our film or download the instructions here.
