Please note entry for nominations has now closed. We'll share information on our winners after our AGM in July.

Would you like to say thank you to a member of the John Taylor Hospice Team? Our Patient/Supporter Choice Award offers patients, families and supporters the chance to nominate staff and volunteers for our Above and Beyond Awards.

Launched on 4 May, the awards aim to recognise staff who have done that little bit extra to support patients, families, supporters and colleagues.

There are six categories in total – with the Patient/Supporter Choice Award being the only one open to members of the public to nominate staff and volunteers.

Last year’s winner was nurse Debra Gregory, who was then working on our In-Patient Unit and has since moved to our Clinical Nurse Specialist Team.

She says: “Being nominated for and winning the Above and Beyond Patient/Supporter Choice Award last year has been one of my proudest career achievements to date. To have a patient's family feel that I had a positive impact at the very worst time of their life is very humbling. To make this difference is why I work in palliative care.”

John Taylor Hospice Above and Beyond Awards

This is the second year we’ve held our Above and Beyond Awards which are presented at our AGM.

Hospice CEO Penny Venables says: “It was so lovely last year to be able to present the awards to colleagues who really have gone above and beyond what we would expect.

“The Patient/Supporter Award gives people the chance to nominate someone who they believe has really helped them. It could be anyone from any of our teams whether clinical, front of house or housekeeping or part of our admin teams.

“If there is someone you would like to nominate for this special award please fill in the form and let us know.”

The criteria for the Patient/Supporter Choice Award is for ‘a staff member or volunteer who a patient or supporter believes has gone over and above in their care and support’.

Nominations can be made by post or email with the closing date of Monday 18 June at 4pm.
