Staff from the co-operative funeralcare visited John Taylor Hospice to present a cheque for £250 towards festive celebrations.
The team has generously supported this year’s Light up a Life event in December and also paid for Christmas trees at the Erdington-based hospice.
Staff from the funeralcare business wanted to support John Taylor after taking part in an open day at the hospice at which they discovered all the ways the hospice supports local families.
Funeral director David Luckey said: “We feel really privileged to be able to support such a wonderful organisation as John Taylor Hospice. It is doing so much every day to help local people.
“We have branches in Erdington and Kingstanding so really want to contribute towards the difference the hospice teams are making to families nearby. We are looking at ways we can continue to support John Taylor Hospice in the future.”
Hospice Community and Events Fundraising Manager Emily Boate said the support is greatly appreciated.
“Christmas is a very special time at John Taylor and it’s great that the co-operative funeralcare is able to help us ensure the hospice is bright and cheerful with lots of trees.
“Our Light up a Life event brings families together to celebrate the lives of their loved ones so we are grateful for support funding it.
“We look forward to working with the team at the co-operative funeralcare in the future.”
Light up a Life is a family event which is free and open to all to attend. Taking place at Hollyfields Centre in Woodacre Road in Erdington on Sunday 9 December, it begins at 6pm and features a short service with live music, readings and a quiet time for reflection.
The hospice is also inviting families to make a donation and dedicate a light in celebration of a loved one. Click here for more information.
