As well as a chance to get together with fellow fundraisers, the awards evening recognised the incredible contribution that supporters have made to their local community. The winners were announced on the night and presented with their trophies by John Taylor Hospice CEO Penny Venables.

Penny said: “Thank you so much to everyone who joined us as we had a fantastic evening. It was wonderful to spend time with so many families who have experienced our care, hearing what inspired their fundraising journeys and celebrating their outstanding achievements. A big thank you also to businesses who have chosen to support our charity and make a difference to their local community.

"Congratulations to the winners, the nominees and to everyone who has supported our work over the last year - you never fail to amaze and inspire us with the remarkable lengths you go to in support of our hospice and we're so proud of you. Thank you."

And the winners are...

Young Fundraisers of the Year - Sam and Jake Smith

Sam and Jake's grandmother was cared for by John Taylor Hospice's Community Team in December 2017. The boys wanted to make their Nanny Anne proud so they decided to take part in the Kids' Duathlon in Sutton Park earlier this year. They trained hard and raised a huge £1,093! We think their Nanny Anne would be very proud of them - and we are too.

Corporate supporter of the year - Lee Solomon at Lilies funeral directors

Lee’s family has personally experienced care from John Taylor Hospice so he has always been a keen supporter of our work. Lee has taken part in a variety of different fundraising activities from abseils to half marathons - both as an individual and as part of Lilies Funeral Directors where he is the Operations Director. Most recently, Lee ran the Shenstone 10k with his wife whilst pushing their twin sons around the track!

Ambassadors of the year - The family of cat smith

Cat Smith was cared for at by John Taylor Hospice 10 years ago. Since then her family have worked very hard to raise thousands of pounds by doing a variety of wonderful activities from abseils to their hugely popular annual quiz night. And they are showing no signs of slowing down as rumour has it Pete Swaine is joining our team of Mount Snowdon climbers in 2019!

Creative fundraiser of the year - Mary Parry

Mary's father was cared for by hospice teams over twenty years ago. This year, artist Mary decided to put her entire art collection up for sale at an exhibition at Shenstone Library. She donated £900 to our hospice as 'an appreciation for the good care and kindness' shown to her parents at the end of their lives.

Adventure Challenge Award - Janine Mcmahon and anne robinson

Janine, Anne and their friends have shown incredible support for John Taylor Hospice over the years with adventurous challenges including dog sledding in Norway and, their most recent challenge, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro! Not only are these challenges amazing personal achievements but they've raised thousands of pounds to support local families.
