Take part in our Spook-tacular family event this Halloween. Gather your little monsters and step out to raise money to help us provide much-needed care.

Walk or crawl our fang-tastic 5k route bubbling with trick or treat stations and raise sponsorship for your local hospice. This walk is fun for all the family to enjoy and we hope you’ll dress to terrify in your scariest Halloween outfits.

Pick a staggered start time to suit you and help maintain a safe distance. See below for more information on how we’re planning to run the event safely.

Raising sponsorship for your challenge

There’s no minimum sponsorship target for you to take part, but it’s your sponsorship that makes the difference. Like so many other charities, we have seen a large drop in fundraising income this year and have had to cancel or postpone lots of events – so we need your support now more than ever.

We’re challenging all our little monsters to raise a minimum of £30 each to help John Taylor Hospice continue to provide round-the-clock end of life care, whilst we continue to develop our services to support the NHS and care for people affected by coronavirus.

How we’re planning on safely running this event

  • We hope to run this event as planned, however we hope you understand that circumstances may change. We’re keeping up to date with government advice and guidelines, as well as those of the Fundraising Regulator. If at any point we are unable to go ahead with the event we’ll transfer your place to an alternative event or refund your ticket.
  • When you sign up you’ll be able to choose a fifteen minute time slot between 3-5pm for registration at Hollyfields Sports Centre. Please note a maximum of six groups can sign up per time slot.
  • You and your group will have your own start time and be given a map to follow the signposted 5k route. Other groups will be taking part, but all at staggered times.
  • From 14 September, there will be a new legal gatherings limit and when meeting with people you don’t live with you can socialise outdoors in groups of up to six. We would therefore politely ask that group registrations do not exceed six people. There are exemptions from this limit and further advice can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/
  • When you register, we’ll be following social distancing guidelines and will be requesting that everyone does the same.
  • To restrict the number of people on site, sadly we won’t be having a group warm up on the day.  We do plan to have some fun activities, frightening face-painting and a fancy dress competition. Please note toilet facilities will not be available en route but are available at Hollyfields.
  • First Aid support will be on hand throughout the event.
  • This event is fun for all the family, and the 5k route is pushchair and wheelchair accessible. Please note – dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times.
  • If you or anyone in your household have any concerns or symptoms of coronavirus you must stay at home and not take part in this event.

If you have any concerns before the event, please don’t hesitate to contact the Fundraising Team.
