Do your own fundraising

Every fundraiser is helping us to support hundreds of local families – when you hold an event for John Taylor Hospice you’ll know you’re making a difference

How about:

  • Coffee for a cause – Host a coffee morning for your local community or club and sell some baked treats.
  • Take a hike – Get fit and get sponsored at the same time! Walk, run, swim or cycle your way to donations.
  • Let’s get quizzical – Organise a charity quiz night and charge per entry for the chance to win some goodies.
  • Summer sizzler – Capitalise on your culinary skills and charge your guests for a barbecue.
  • Special occasion donations – Do you have a big birthday or anniversary coming up? Why not ask your loved ones for donations to John Taylor Hospice instead of gifts?

Every event will be more successful if you can tick off the 4 Ps…

  • Product – What’s your event? Is it family friendly or adults only? Does it have a theme?
  • Planning – When and where will you hold your event? What else is going on in the area at the time? How long will it take to organise? What do you need to provide?
  • Price – What is your fundraising target? How much will you charge attendees? What will it cost to run your event? Will you need to recoup costs from the money you raise?
  • Promotion –How and where will you advertise your event? Do you have social media channels you can use?

Keep the fun in fundraising by making sure you abide by any regulations that might apply to your event:

  • Raffles, lotteries and collections – You may need a license from your local council if you are collecting money, selling alcohol or holding a raffle. We can take you through how to do this.
  • Health, safety and food hygiene – If you have any questions about your event please contact us.
  • Data protection – Take care never to share anyone’s information without their explicit permission.
  • Returning money – Please send the money you have raised by cheque or postal order, made out to John Taylor Hospice Charity and please include any sponsorship or Gift Aid forms. You can also pay in your money via our website.

What our patients think

“The care was second to none”

“At such a heartbreaking and difficult time, the nurses and care assistants knew exactly what to do and to say – we’d have been lost without them. The care they provided for my beautiful wife was second to none and I’ll be forever grateful.”

Roger Perks

“Nothing is too much trouble”

“I can’t thank hospice teams enough. From fitting grab rails in my house and ordering a reclining bed, reviewing of all my medication, providing me with new medical equipment and even helping to organise domestic help for us at home – they’ve covered everything but are always willing to do even more.”

Jackie Bannister

“I don’t know where I’d be without them”

“The support I get is truly is invaluable and I honestly don’t know where I’d be without them. I’m able to talk openly about my illness and ask for advice and support if I need it. I’ve made some incredible friends and the hospice is a very special place full of laughter and kindness. “
