John Taylor Hospice in partnership with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Palliative Medicine. The employment contract will be hosted by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) and the post is based at John Taylor Hospice in Erdington, North Birmingham. Applicants must possess recognised training and broad experience in Palliative Medicine and full registration with the GMC. Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register or be within six months of achieving CCT in Palliative Medicine at the date of the interview.
This is an exciting opportunity to take up a new substantive post, providing a Consultant Palliative Medical service to John Taylor Hospice. The post holder will also join a team of Consultants based at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and UHB, in providing out of hours second on call cover to; the two specialist units, the acute trust and the communities they serve. There will be formal CPD and peer support on a weekly basis, at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice. An appropriate consultant mentor will be identified at the point of recruitment.
Applicants should be enthusiastic clinicians who can demonstrate a commitment to multidisciplinary working and an ability to participate in strategic planning and the development, improvement, management and delivery of services. This is a full time post but applications are also encouraged from individuals who wish to work less than full time and those interested in job share.
