About the role
As our charity’s Internal Communications and Engagement Officer, you’ll be joining The Hospice Charity Partnership during a landmark time for end of life care across Birmingham.
In this newly-created and pivotal role, you’ll be instrumental in developing and delivering an innovative and engaging communications strategy for colleagues at our much-loved Selly Park and Erdington-based hospices. Your expert, open and clear communications skills will help hospice colleagues transition to new ways of working, as they strive towards a future where everyone in Birmingham has equitable access to specialist and compassionate end of life and palliative care.
Together with the Head of Communications and Marketing, you’ll create compelling content and a bespoke employee programme to connect, inspire, inform and motivate colleagues. You’ll work closely with the Executive and Operational Management Teams to communicate key company messages through a variety of channels, and ensure an effective two-way flow of information between clinical and corporate colleagues across both hospice sites.

We are looking for an experienced communicator to join our ambitious and forward-thinking Marketing Team. To succeed in the role, you will be able to demonstrate experience of producing high-quality materials that are tailored to the needs of diverse audiences.
We are seeking someone with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, as you’ll require the ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues in different departments.
Our ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable and able to manage a busy schedule. You will have strong organisational skills, excellent written skills, attention to detail, and the ability to write and communicate company information and stories in a clear and compelling manner.
You will be self-motivated, able to work on your own initiative, and collaboratively with colleagues from a range of departments – that could include clinical staff in community and hospice-based roles, and corporate staff such as fundraisers, retail teams, HR, finance, IT, reception and housekeeping.
Experience in the non-profit sector is not essential, as we’ll provide a comprehensive induction programme and ongoing peer support.
